Short Bio
Dr. Ioannis Lazarou (m) was born in Athens in 1985. In 2008 He graduated from the computer science department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and in 2010 he received his MSc degree on Informatics from the same department with emphasis on Communications Systems and Technologies. In 2010 he joined Photonics Communications Research Laboratory (PCRL) and till 2015 he worked as a research associate in PCRL towards his PhD pursuing and conducting research in all-optical signal processing with semiconductor circuits and in optical advanced modulation format generation and transmission for next generation high speed long-haul and access networks. Dr. Lazarou received his PhD from the National Technical University of Athens in 2015 and is currently a senior researcher at the Photonics Communications Research Laboratory.
In the past 6 years he has been involved in several national and EU-funded ICT projects, including SPIRIT, GALACTICO, PHOXTROT, BOOM and APACHE. Dr. Lazarou, has authored or co-authored more than 35 publications in IEEE and OSA peer-reviewed journals and conferences and he is currently working in H2020 collaborative research project NEPHELE investigating novel optical network architectures for disaggregated datacenters.
